At Caidya, we are proud of our colleagues who make a difference not only through their work in clinical research but also through the ways they support patients, communities, and causes that matter.
Recently, Sarah Gill, Executive Director, Clinical Monitoring at Caidya, took part in the Pink Pear Pootle, an 8K community walk supporting the Worcestershire Breast Cancer Unit. The event brought together people from across the community to raise awareness and funds while showing support for patients and families affected by breast cancer.
We spoke with Sarah about what inspired her to participate, the experience of joining such a meaningful event, and why community involvement reflects the values we share at Caidya.
What inspired you to sign up for the Pink Pear Pootle?
The Pink Pear Pootle is a fantastic community event supporting the Worcestershire Breast Cancer Unit, and it felt like a meaningful way to give something back. Like many people, I’ve seen first-hand how breast cancer affects individuals, families, and friends, so having the opportunity to support a local service that provides such important care was something I wanted to be part of.
It was also a great opportunity to get outdoors, challenge myself, and spend time with colleagues while supporting a worthwhile cause. Even with the warm weather, it was a really rewarding experience.

What was the atmosphere like? Was there a particular moment that really stayed with you?
The atmosphere was incredibly uplifting. There was a real sense of togetherness, with people of all ages and abilities walking for all kinds of personal reasons but united by a common purpose.
One of the moments that stayed with me most was seeing families, friends, and healthcare staff all taking part together. It was a powerful reminder that behind every fundraiser are real people whose lives have been touched by the work of the Breast Cancer Unit.
Everyone brought their own story and reason for being there, and that created such a warm and supportive environment.
What does supporting causes like this mean to you personally?
For me, it’s about recognizing that we all have an opportunity to make a positive difference. Even small actions can have a meaningful impact, while also helping to create, build, and maintain a sense of community.
Whether that means giving time, raising awareness, or fundraising, every contribution helps support people when they need it most. Knowing that the money raised stays local and helps improve care for patients in Worcestershire makes it feel especially worthwhile.
I met so many fantastic people during the event. Everyone was incredibly warm and welcoming, and it was truly heartwarming to see how much care and compassion people brought to the day.
At Caidya, we value making a positive impact beyond the workplace. How do you think initiatives like this reflect that commitment?
As a company dedicated to improving patients’ lives through clinical research, supporting community health initiatives feels like a natural extension of what we do every day.
Everything we do is for the benefit of patients. Events like the Pink Pear Pootle remind us that making a difference isn’t limited to our professional roles, it is something we can all contribute to in our own communities.
Having the encouragement and support of colleagues makes these experiences even more meaningful. It creates a sense of shared purpose and shows that we are committed not only to advancing healthcare globally but also to supporting the communities around us.
What does it mean to have the support of your Caidya colleagues?
Having colleagues who encourage and support these efforts makes a huge difference. It reinforces that we are part of a team that values compassion, collaboration, and giving back.
At Caidya, we are fortunate to have colleagues who bring our values to life in so many ways. Whether they are supporting patients through their everyday work, volunteering their time, or participating in community events, their commitment is something to be proud of.

If you could encourage one colleague to get involved in a future charity event, what would you say to them?
I’d simply say: give it a try.
You don’t have to be a seasoned walker or particularly fit, and you don’t need a personal connection to a cause to make a difference. You’ll meet great people, have a really enjoyable experience, and know that you’ve contributed to something genuinely worthwhile.
You might be surprised at how rewarding it feels.
